| About Us |

| K9 Security (UK) Ltd was originally just a dream of mine, I had done the usual background jobs that
relate to the security industry, i.e. joined the armed forces, then moved on to security jobs in civvy street in canary wharf London and in nightclubs before I
finally settled in Devon where I continued to work as a "Doorman" in the local pubs and clubs. |
| |
As a child we had owned Dogs as pets and I had always loved them and been fascinated by them it wasn't
until I got to Devon that I wanted some kind of career with dogs although unsure as to what path I would take as there were few jobs in this field. It was by sheer
coincidence that I applied for a security job where the company had a Dog section which I showed allot of willingness to join.
After 3 long months of proving myself to be a hard worker and punctual I was given an interview for selection to join the dog team (this I jumped at).
|
 |
I passed the interview and started my theory and written test side to the course after my usual 12 hour
shifts then progressed onto the practical which although nerve racking was extremely exciting.
I was given a German Shepherd Bitch named "CHASE" although the smallest dog in the section she was undoubtedly one of the more challenging.
After long work shifts then studying and the practical training we finally passed the competent handler test as a team allowing us to go out onto sites together
which was an amazing feeling. I had passed the test and had got onto the first rung of the ladder as a dog handler which is a very rewarding and tough profession
to get into. |

My training continued and I learnt something new everyday and loved every minute if it,it was then that
I knew that this was the job I wanted as a long-term career.
After a few years I decided I had got to the stage that I could no longer further my career or knowledge
in the job I had so it was then that K9 started to unravel itself.I looked into what I could provide and the services that were available in the area at the time
when I had a call from someone I was friendly with asking about the advantages of having Guard dogs in security as he heard I was a handler this lead to us
joining forces and providing dogs to various cliental.
Unfortunately this relationship turned sour and I was pushed aside after contacts were made, looking back at that learning curve it was the best thing they could
have happened to me as it really pushed me to turn K9 Security from a dream to a reality.
I’ve always believed things happen to us for a reason and the unfortunate events that happened then opened up so many doors and brought me into contact with some
of the greatest people I could ever have hoped to of met.
I already owned a Rottweiler who I had started to train as a youngster ,he is now 3yrs 6months and a fantastic working dog,and recently done me proud at the A1K9
UK Challenge 2006 in Wales where we were up against some great teams from the Police, Prison service, Armed forces etc. and got placed 12th.

|
Myself and "KAI" both passed the B.I.P.D.T test and are associate members and were both in continuing training with other bodies to make sure that we are always
at the top of our game and providing the best possible service to the community and our customers.
K9 Security (UK) Ltd is now a working company and myself and my growing dog teams pride ourselves on our presentation, our Dogs and most of all the professionalism
of the service we provide which has lead us to police recommendations and more.
I could never of imagined that the dream I had of working as a dog handler would eventually turn into the greatest reality of my life..... |
